Opportunity: Grab the reins and grow the Greater Cincinnati & Northern Kentucky (GCNKY) Chapter of The First Tee®. Through the game of golf, The First Tee® chapter encompasses the Ohio counties of Hamilton and Clermont and in Northern Kentucky, Boone, Campbell and Kenton, provides programs to build character, instill life-enriching values and promote healthy choices for boys and girls, ages 7 to 18. Organized in 2006, this chapter offers a solid foundation and is on the cusp of tremendous growth with a dynamic, passionate, and ambitious leader. Responsibilities: The Chapter Executive Director (ED) is responsible for the day-to-day operations and management of the Greater Cincinnati & Northern Kentucky programs with a team of three (Program Director, Development Director, and Administration/ Volunteer Coordinator) on a budget of $300,000. As the public face of the local chapter, the ED promotes the values and programs of The First Tee® throughout the Chapter’s territory, encourages collaborations with like organizations, nurtures and supports board leaders and other volunteers, raises the visibility and appreciation for the Chapter’s character-building initiatives, and works with an engaged board and staff in growing the Chapter’s philanthropic support.
Qualifications: The successful candidate will exude a passion for helping youth prepare for success using golf as the foundation for teaching valuable life and leadership lessons centered on The First Tee’s Nine Core Values and Nine Healthy Habits (see website). S/he will have earned an academic degree in education, business, sports management, marketing, nonprofit management, or related discipline. S/he will have demonstrated leadership experience managing, supervising, delegating, and developing staff and volunteers, exemplary communications skills, a confident and outgoing persona comfortable with public speaking, and as a nonprofit staff or volunteer, strong relationship building experiences, particularly in attracting donors and dollars in a nonprofit setting.
Helpful will be a knowledge of the game of golf, experience coaching youth and working with parents and volunteers, an effective multi-tasker, proven collaborator, familiarity with branding , and, if not prior nonprofit staff experience, an appreciation for the opportunities and challenges of operating an autonomous local 501(c)(3) nonprofit chapter of a national organization.
