The Club The 725 members of this 501(c)(3) volunteer-led nonprofit actively carry out the 1894 founders’ mission to impact and enrich the community through philanthropic action and educational opportunities. Situated on five beautifully landscaped acres in Cincinnati’s Clifton neighborhood, its meticulously maintained 40,000 square foot Clubhouse is alive with weekday activities from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with occasional evening and weekend events. Financially sound, thanks to generously endowed funds, The Cincinnati Woman’s Club currently operates on a $2MM combined facilities/operations/personnel budget with a staff of 20 FTE. Responsibilities The General Manager/COO, reporting to the volunteer President, oversees five direct reports while focusing on these primary duties:  

  • Providing executive leadership of day-to-day Club operations to ensure efficient, effective, and mission-aligned service delivery.
  • Guiding staff and directing department heads in communications, finance/human resources, Tea Room, executive chef, and operations.
  • Implementing policies – and traditions – as determined and governed by the elected Executive Board.
  • Overseeing standards for food, beverage, event and banquet and internal and external rentals.
  • Implementing and continuously improving operational policies, procedures, and systems.
  • Designing and implementing operational plans, timelines, and KPIs of strategic initiatives.
  • Promoting and ensuring cross-departmental training, coordination, and accountability.
  • Encouraging and ensuring a staff atmosphere of honesty, integrity, accountability and dedication.

 

ExpectationsAmong the desired competencies and expectations of the successful candidate:   

  • Ten+ years of successful private club leadership preferred.
  • Proven leadership success as GM or #2 of private clubs helpful; woman’s club also helpful.
  • Familiarity – if not experience – with 501(c)(3) nonprofit rules and regulations.
  • Undergraduate degree or certifications in position-related areas helpful.
  • Demonstrated leadership success within a volunteer-oriented/committee environment.
  • Proven abilities of collaborating well with multi-generational women, ages 40 to 99.
  • Success planning and managing major capital projects helpful.
  • Exemplary oral and written communicator.
  • Diplomatic collaborator with outstanding listening skills.

  • Very commensurate with experience, annual starting salary range: $150,000 to $200,000.
