Executive Director
Youngstown Area Goodwill Industries has been serving the region since 1893 providing vocational rehabilitation, job placement, and radio reading and vision services. It also provides employment opportunities and funding throughout the region with its eight retail stores and janitorial and laundry services. Following a three decade career with the agency, its Executive Director has announced his retirement.
The next Executive Director will inherit an operating budget of $7.5 million and 250 employees in three Ohio counties and two Pennsylvania counties. Youngstown Area Goodwill Industries serves more than 500 individuals in vocational programs annually and more than 5,000 individuals who are visually impaired through its Radio Reading Service and vision screening programs.
Reporting to the President and 24-member Board of Directors, complemented by an Advisory Board, the Executive Director is accountable for all operations of the CARF-accredited agency with a management team currently comprised of a Director of Rehabilitation, Controller, Operations Director, and Marketing Director.
The successful candidate will have at least five to seven years of progressive management experience and possess demonstrable knowledge and insight of nonprofits, financial management, program development, retail operations, and marketing. As the face and spokesperson for the agency throughout the service area, s/he will continue building and maintaining ongoing communication with community leaders, partners, and donors. S/he will be expected to be a visionary leader, and willing to manage diverse and frequently changing priorities, particularly possessing the ability to do so with a positive attitude and sense of humor.
Desired qualifications and experiences
- Executive leadership experiences in multi-million dollar organizations
- Experience in building and maintaining collaborative relationships
- Supervisory and administrative experience in nonprofit and/or for-profit settings
- Experience in CARF or other professional accreditation processes helpful
- Experience working with underserved individuals, families, and care-givers
- Exemplary communications skills (oral and written)
- Experience with governance of charitable 501(c)(3) organizations
- Strength in fiscal, program management
- Academic degree(s) in agency-related field or business
- Commitment to the mission and ideals of Goodwill Industries
- Technologically proficient
- Experience in retail helpful
- Humility
Commensurate with experience, the Executive Director will receive a competitive compensation and benefits package.
