United Way of Greater Cincinnati

Need:    Find an exemplary development pro as expeditiously as possible

Service:    C-Suite Search

Having lost its Senior Vice President/CDO to a CEO position in another state, the United Way of Greater Cincinnati needed to find a uniquely talented development professional to be a key member of its Executive Team. The Human Resources Department issued a RFP for assistance and chose The Yunker Group as its partner.

“The Yunker Group did a great job sourcing a diverse and qualified pool of candidates for us. Jim Yunker has great connections in the community, and beyond, and he was able to leverage his network to expand our reach to get us applicants we likely wouldn’t have otherwise gotten,” shared Jamie Martinez D’Agostino, Vice President of Human Resources at the time of the search.

“Compared to other providers we’ve worked with in the past, Jim and his team provided more value for the cost,” reflects Jamie. “Jim was always available by text or for a quick call. We had touch points every week. I found his insights and thoughts so helpful. The level of service was above and beyond.”

Jamie was especially appreciative—and impressed with—The Yunker Group’s efforts to meet an aggressive timeline without sacrificing quality: “Although we were skeptical internally about whether our timeline was feasible, The Yunker Group found a way to work ahead and condense the process so they actually ended up being ahead of schedule. I get the sense they’re overachievers, so you can be sure that if it can be done, they will do it!”

Jim’s integrity is real – he’s not afraid to have tough conversations or bring up difficult questions or challenges he may see. If he believes it’s in the best interest of the client and the process, he’ll bring it up. That said, he always does everything in a very professional and diplomatic way,” Jamie added.

They’re professional, flexible, customer-oriented, timely connected—they’re all about their customers. They want to do what you need, and what you like. They’re also well connected, especially in the nonprofit realm. Jim truly understands the dynamics of the nonprofit world, which makes his insights especially valuable.

Overall, Jamie said she couldn’t be more pleased about the search and its outcome: “I honestly can’t say enough good things about The Yunker Group. I was very happy with our experience—and I’m happy to share that with others.” She added, “I rave about The Yunker Group because after the search concluded we remained touch. Jim has really become an important colleague and professional connection for me—and that’s valuable. He’s great at connecting people with each other and connecting people with good information, sending along great advice. I’m glad to have Jim as part of my network.”
